The Project
Project Mask4Aid was designed to bring a healthy dose of joyful artistic creativity to residents of Toronto as we endure a year of lock-down and restricted activity within the Covid-19 pandemic. This public art project was designed, and will be produced, by the leadership of CaST School, an experiential and expeditionary learning secondary school in Toronto, and its affiliate CaST Public Arts. Working in tandem with local partners at the Center for Social Innovation (CSI-Annex), CaST School secured financing for Project Mask4Aid through the City of Toronto’s ArtworxTO: Year of Public Art 2021 program. Mask4Aid’s main feature is the school-based creation of artistically designed plague-masks by K12 and university students, whose work will ultimately be photographed, videotaped and projection-mapped onto the sides of school buildings and other structures across the City of Toronto in April 2021.
